P-04-475 Wanted -  Buses for Meirionnydd – Correspondence from the Petitioner to the Committee, 12.11.14

Dear Kayleigh,

Thank you for your continuing to consider the Petition for buses in Meirionnydd.   I have one new item to add (3) below.

 1)  Thank you for the 20% increase in buses on the T3 Barmouth to Wrexham and an increased service on the T2 to Bangor.

2)  We are still in a difficult situation here on the Dolgellau to Tywyn route.  The buses do not connect properly and there is a real need for a later bus when people have to travel home from Wrexham or Bangor.  They simply cannot get home.

3)  The Lloyds buses (No. 28)  on the Dolgellau to Tywyn route are "user unfriendly".  People with disabilities, wheelchairs, pushchairs, shopping trolleys, find it difficult/impossible to board these buses.  They are not low floor buses but they usually have 3 steps up, which are steep.  They are old buses.   If someone in a wheelchair needed to go to Wrexham or Bangor hospital, they could not get there.

I, therefore, implore the Petition Committee that this matter is brought up with Lloyds Coaches, for the provision of low floor buses.

Thank you.
